How Google+ Updates and Mobile Phones Are Influencing Local Search

It was  around two years ago, Google introduced Blended Place Search, merging its traditional organic algorithm with its index of Local businesses from Google Places. Since then there have been a host of changes, that have made Local Search even more important and accessible than it had been in the past especially with Google’s most recent changes to Google + Local. Not surprisingly, other search engine companies have followed close at hand, Microsoft’s Bing with Bing Local and Yahoo with Yahoo’s Local Listing.

According to Search Engine Land, in their article regarding Local Search they quoted that Google had shared with them that

“More than 20 percent of searches on Google are related to location.” The key words in that sentence are “more than.”

By making local results (and Place Pages) more prominent than even they were before, users will likely respond with more local queries and rely on Google more heavily for local information. The overall volume and percentage of queries on Google seeking local information may in turn increase.”

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users.” 

Seo copywriting seeks to combine the traditional writing skills of hardcopy or print media copywriting with SEO techniques that help your website or web pages to rank high in popular search engines. There are various effective and ethical strategies a professional seo copywriter knows in order to accomplish these objectives and as a small business owner you need to be aware of them.  But why does it matter?

Let me start with a story…Once upon a time, back in the old internet days (1995) a bunch of web savvy seo optimizers seeking to have their websites  rank higher than everybody else’s website started to engage in  “black hat” practices such as excessive keyword stuffing, meta tag optimizing, link stuffing  and duplicating content among other things, that made the average internet users internet experience very unpleasant.  The big search engine giants at the time, Yahoo, Lycos and others, did not like these practices and started penalizing websites for these bad habits.
